The formula
Turf rolls = length × width × (1 + waste%) ÷ coverage per roll. Topsoil volume = area × depth (mm) ÷ 1,000. Bags = volume × density × 1,000 ÷ bulk bag weight.
Plan a new rectangular lawn: calculate square metres of turf and optional topsoil at your chosen depth. Enter the coverage of the turf roll and weight of a bulk bag.

Turf rolls = length × width × (1 + waste%) ÷ coverage per roll. Topsoil volume = area × depth (mm) ÷ 1,000. Bags = volume × density × 1,000 ÷ bulk bag weight.
A 6 × 4 m lawn is 24 m². With 5% turf allowance, that is 25.2 m², or 26 rolls at 1 m² per roll.
Turf rolls vary in size, and some suppliers sell by the square metre. Topsoil density changes with moisture and composition. Consider settling, existing soil level, drainage and lawn preparation before ordering.
