ABOUT THE TOOLS
Practical numbers.
No mystery maths.
PlanMyDIY is a set of free UK-focused DIY material estimators. It turns measurements into approximate quantities, with the working visible and your own supplier prices when you want them.
How estimates are calculated
Each calculator starts with measured area, length or volume, then applies the waste or cutting allowance you select. Where materials come in whole packs, bags, boards or tins, the quantity is rounded up to a whole unit.
Default material yields and densities are typical planning assumptions, not guarantees. Use the coverage stated on your product or quote for a more reliable result.
Prices & monetisation
We do not claim to know your local price. Price fields are optional and start empty. The planner totals only items where you have supplied a cost per unit.
There are currently no adverts, sponsored recommendations, affiliate tracking or paywalls on this website.
Privacy & storage
Your calculations run in your browser. Saved projects and prices are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device. We do not operate a user account system or upload your saved projects to a server.
This initial version does not use third-party advertising or analytics scripts. Normal website hosting may process technical requests according to the hosting provider's policies.
Safety & limitations
These calculators do not evaluate ground conditions, structural loads, building regulations, planning permission, electrical work, plumbing or site safety. They are intended for budgeting and initial shopping estimates only.
For structural or safety-critical work, use qualified advice and confirm specifications with the relevant supplier, contractor or professional.
